Blake in Indian Wells

#4 seed James Blake advanced over Federico Gil in Estoril’s first round 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 and today reached the quarterfinals by defeating Marc Gicquel 7-6(6), 6-2. Florrent Serra is next up for James Blake.

#6 seed Mardy Fish won his first round match vs. Teimuraz Gabashvili 3&4. After defeating Ivan Navarro in the 2nd round 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, Fish will now take on Davydenko who defeated Ferrero 5&2.

If Fish and Blake advance, we will be treated to an All American Clay Semi.

Robert Kendrick lost his first round match vs. Gilles Simon 3-6, 6-7(7).
Qualifier Ryan Sweeting was eliminated by Albert Montanes 1-6, 6-7(4).

Men’s Doubles:

Eric Butorac at UCLA

Eric Butorac & Scott Lipsky defeated the #1 seeds Soares/Ullyett 5&3 in the first round and then defeated their countrymen Mardy Fish and David Martin 3-6, 7-5, 10-5 to reach the Estoril Semis. Next up will be Cermak/Mertinak who earlier defeated James Blake and Robert Kendrick in the 2nd Round 4&2. Blake and Kendrick won their first round match over Gabashvili/Junqueira 6-3, 3-6, 11-9.
