Kendrick Serves Over Soderling, Dent Secures a Big Win, Roddick and Blake roll on but Kim Held Back and Russell a Break Short

A great day for the Americans in Miami. Blake, Dent, Kendrick and Roddick advance into the final 32 of the men’s singles draw. Isner, Delic, Fish, Reynolds and Querrey could join them tomorrow.

Reynolds Rallies, Delic, Isner, Querry Roll, but Sweeting, Craybas and Levine Out

Jill Craybas and Ryan Sweeting each went down an early break in their matches to trail 1-2 and each lost their first set 4-6.  They continued their parallel woes into the second set with both down 2 breaks trailing 1-4, but the similarities end there when Craybas was closed out at 1-6 by Anna-Lena Groenfeld.

American Alexa Glatch to Play #1 Serena Williams

Alexa Glatch defeated World #88, Timea Bacsinszky, 6-4, 6-1 for an opportunity to play Serena Williams in the second round.  Glatch recently dismissed Carla Suarez Navarro (#16 in the 2009 rankings race) at Indian Wells.

Kevin Kim to play Federer & Russell to Take on Monfils in Miami Second Round

Kevin Kim advanced today in Miami when Michael Llodra retired with a groin injury after leading 6-3.  Kim has not played a top ten player since his straight set losses to Robredo & Blake in 2007.  Kim’s 1st serve is a powerful weapon and Kim may need to toss only first serves to the Federer.
