Isner vs. Odesnik Quarterfinal Preview & Houston Results

Odesnik vs. Isner:

John Isner in Indian Wells

John Isner in Indian Wells

John & Wayne have met once in 2007, 2008 & 2009.  In the eight sets played, five of them have gone to tie-breakers.  Odesnik won the first tie-breaker in ’07, but Isner has taken the last four tie-breakers 7-3, 7-2, 7-4, 7-4.  Those three matches were all on hard courts and Odesnik will gain an edge as the clay slows Isner’s powerful serve.

While Isner’s career tie-break record is better than Odesnik’s, Odesnik’s experience and winning record on clay may give Odesnik a shot at taking the match without the need for a tie-breaker.
