Lepchenko Eliminated by Dementieva, Venus Lisicki’d and Oudin Bartoli’d in Charleston
The last three remaining American singles players in Charleston, Varvara Lepchenko, Venus Williams & Melanie Oudin were all eliminated today.
Lepchenko won only 3 of her 13 second serves and just 45% of her first serve points going down 1 & 1 to Dementieva.
Oudin had a similar second serve issue winning just 25% of her second serve points and just half of her first serve points. Given the poor serving of Oudin, she needed to convert more than 3 of the 10 break chances she had on Bartoli eventually losing 4-6, 1-6.
Sabine Lisicki grooved her form in the midst of six double faults in the second set and defeated Venus Williams 6-4, 7-5(5). Venus made 61% of her first serves and won 70% of those points, but in the second set her 31% conversion of second serve points led to two breaks of serve.
