Lepchenko, Oudin, Williams Singles Winners; Raymond, Mattek-Sands, Glatch, Perry Advance in Doubles at Charleston
Women’s Singles:
American Varvara Lepchenko defeated surprise US qualifier Shenay Perry 6-2, 6-3 as Perry lost 64% of her service points while Lepchenko won 69% of her own service points.
Mattek-Sands lost to Rodionova 2-6, 4-6 making 71% of her first serves, but unfortunately losing 53% of her first serve points allowing Rodionova 8 break chances creating 5 breaks of Mattek-Sands serve.
American qualifier Melanie Oudin defeated last week’s Ponte Vedra finalist Aleksandra Wozniak 7-5, 6-0. Oudin broke Wozniak’s serve 5 times and won 70% of her service points.
Vania King lost to Melinda Czink 4-6, 2-6 as King was unable to capitalize on her 2 break chances while Czink broke King 3 out of her 5 opportunities.
Venus Williams defeated the free swinging Sania Mirza 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
Women’s Doubles:
Lisa Raymond (w/Peschke) defeated fellow Americans Craybas and Washington 6-3, 3-6, 10-2.
Mattek-Sands (w/Petrova) advanced over the American team of Ditty and Gullickson 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.
Wildcard American team Alexa Glatch and Shenay Perry advanced over Bondarenko/Rodionova 2-6, 6-4, 10-7
