Wayne Odesnik advanced in Houston with a solid win over Jurgen Melzer (who had defeated American Robert Kendrick) 6-4, 6-0 in the second round.

Taylor Dent finished strong in his first round match on Tuesday to advance over Marcos Daniel 4-6, 6-3, 6-2

Scoville Jenkins advanced with a stunning come back against Alexander Peya after losing the first set 0-6, Jenkins closed out the match 6-4, 6-3

Guillermo Canas was a tough opponent to draw in the first round by #1 seed James Blake who lost 4 & 4.  Bjorn Phau defeated #2 seed Mardy Fish on Tuesday as well 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, but Blake and Fish teamed up today to defeat fellow countryman James Cerretani (w/ Norman) 6-3, 7-6(0) in the doubles quarterfinal.

Cerretani/Norman defeated Huss/Hutchins 7-5, 7-6(6) on Tuesday before their loss to Blake and Fish today.

American Michael Russell gave John Isner trouble on Tuesday in the first set, but Isner prevailed 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and today, Isner had a very tight finish in his second round match vs. Paul Capdeville (who defeated Delic in the first round.) Isner won 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-6(5)

Lucky non-qualifier, Jesse Levine lost to Jeremy Chardy on Tuesday 3 & 0, but Levine and Ryan Sweeting advanced in doubles today over Ker/Damm.

Scott Lipsky (w/Vemic) also advanced by defeating Gimeno-Traver/Junqueira 3 & 4.

Bryan Bros have advanced by defeating Chardy/Dabul 7-6(5), 6-3.
